Part 6 : Configure additional software for the tv-true platform

This page is part of a sequence of steps for creating a tv-true platform for viewing TV streaming websites on your television:

Final options for configuration of the tv-true platform.

  1. MythDora comes installed with Firefox but you may prefer to use Opera because Opera has a "-fullscreen" commandline option to start in full screen (this is possible in Firefox but requires an add-on Extension). However Opera is slightly trickier to configure a key sequence to use the accesskey HTML attribute for fastext buttons of a remote control. If you have just the libflashplayer.so instead of the installed the Flash package then put the libflashplayer.so in /usr/lib/opera/plugins.

  2. mplayer handles dvd menus better than the MythTV Internal Player. Use the MythTV menu to navigate "Utilities / Setup" > "Setup" > "Media Settings" > "Video Settings" > "Player Settings", tab to the "DVD Player" field, replace "Internal" with "mplayer -fs dvdnav://"

    Add the following lines to lircrc so that the arrow keys of the remote navigate the DVD menu

    nano .mythtv/lircrc

    begin
      button = Up
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 1
    end

    begin
      button = Down
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 2
    end

    begin
      button = Right
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 4
    end

    begin
      button = Left
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 3
    end

    begin
      button = OK
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 6
    end

    # DVDMenu button
    begin
      button = DVD
      prog = mplayer
      config = dvdnav 5
    end

Congratulations, you have finished creating your tv-true platform for viewing internet on the television, now go and have a sit down on the sofa!
